Like their counterparts in Division 1, there wasn’t much change in the latest HNIB News Girls D2 Prep Poll. In fact, the top six spots remain the same.

#1 Worcester Academy (12-2-2) posted a pair of shutout wins, blanking Pingree (5-0) and North Yarmouth Academy (8-0). The Hilltoppers are getting balanced scoring, which is always a plus. They have a key tilt coming up Wednesday at Brooks. Friday’s opponent is Holderness and Kingswood is Saturday’s foe.

Just as hot is #2 Proctor (17-3-1). The Hornets beat Groton (5-1), then swept a weekend in Maine, beating Hebron (4-2) and Kents Hill (5-0). Coach Corey Cooper’s team plays just once this week a return trip to Main to take on North Yarmouth Academy.

#3 Brooks (10-4-0) blanked Tilton 4-0 in its only action. The Bishops look to make a statement against top-ranked Worcester on Wedneday, and host Southfield Saturday.

Girls-Festival-Ad-300x250#4 St. George’s (7-3-1) gave D1 Tabor all it could handle in a 2-0 loss, while Saturday’s game with Governors Academy was postponed. This week, the Dragons get set to take on Portsmouth Abbey (Monday) and St. Mark’s (Wednesday).

#5 Canterbury (11-2-1) shut out Gunnery 3-0. Its postponed Saturday game against Kingswood will be played this Thursday. Rye Country Day is Wednesday’s opponent and Hill School is Saturday’s.

#6 Rivers (8-4-0) fell to D1 BB&N (4-3) and rebounded to blitz Groton (6-1). The Red Wings play just once this week, against Thayer on Wednesday.

Southfield (6-7-1) returns to the poll after a 3-1 win over Holderness Saturday. They play Governors on Wednesday before travelling to Brooks for the key tilt Saturday.

Any number of teams could fill the #8 spot. Kimball Union (7-7-1) gets the nod this week after being Berwick 3-2 on Saturday. The Wildcats want to continue success against Holderness (Wednesday) and Governors Academy (Friday).
