Worcester Academy (16-3-4) holds on to the #1 position in this week’s HNIB News Girls D2 Prep Poll. The Hilltoppers tied Rivers (3-3) and then beat Vermont Academy (3-2). The week ahead will have Worcester facing Winchendon (Wednesday) and Holderness (Friday).

Proctor (21-5-1) bumps up to #2 after a week that saw the Hornets go 2-1, beating Brewster Academy (7-0) and Holderness (3-0), and losing 3-1 to a surging Southfield team.  The Hornets close out their regular season this week with games against Hebron (Wednesday) and Rivers (Saturday).

A late rally Saturday saw #3 St. George’s (11-5-1) slip past #4 Brooks (13-6-1) 2-1 in OT to flip-flop poll positions this week. The Dragons did lose to BB&N 3-1 as well. This week, they get Governors Academy (Monday), Milton (Wednesday) and Groton (Saturday).

Girls-Festival-Ad-300x250The Bishops get Groton on Wednesday, followed by Middlesex (Friday) and Tabor (Saturday).

#5 Rivers (9-6-1) earned that 3-3 tie with #1 Worcester and lost to D1 St. Mark’s (3-1) this past week. Looking ahead, the Red Wings will see Milton (Monday), Governors Academy (Wednesday) and Tabor (Saturday).

Following a 6-0 loss to Kent, #6 Canterbury (15-4-2) had a successful trip over the weekend to Maine, beating Hebron (4-2) and Kents Hill (6-3). The Saints take on Millbrook (Wednesday) and Winchendon (Saturday).

#7 Southfield (10-8-2) blanked Winchendon (3-0) then had a big win over Proctor (3-1). Two D1 powers – New Hampton (Wednesday) and Tabor (Friday) – will be huge tests. Berwick is this Saturday’s opponent.

Back into the poll at #8 is Groton (12-10-0). The Zebras, who play Brooks (Wednesday) and St. George’s (Saturday), a big chance to move up in the polls, lost to Nobles Wednesday (6-0).
