There’s been a minor shake-up at the top of this week’s HNIB News Girls Prep Division 2 poll, as Worcester Academy (15-3-3) returns to the #1 spot, as it was the only top team not to lose this past week.

The Hilltoppers picked up a pair of wins over Southfield (2-1) and Winchendon (2-0). Wednesday, Worcester will have its hands full with Rivers, a team looking for a big win to move up the charts. Vermont Academy is Saturday’s opponent.

#2 Brooks (12-5-1) knocked off Thayer (3-2) then ran into D1’s top team – Nobles – and fell, 7-2. The Bishops will look for a pair of wins this week against Holderness (Wednesday) and a key ISL tilt with St. George’s (Saturday).

Last week’s #1 team, Proctor Academy (19-4-1), checks in at #3 after the Hornets were beat by Vermont Academy, 1-0. Proctor did register a 4-1 win over Kimball Union and has a busy week with Brewster Academy (Wednesday), Southfield (Friday) and Holderness (Saturday).

Girls-Festival-Ad-300x250#4 St. George’s (10-4-1) gave Nobles all it could handle in a 3-1 loss and then beat Kingswood (9-1). The Dragons will test D1 BB&N on Wednesday before tangling with Brooks Saturday.

#5 Canterbury (13-3-2) played just once this past week, losing a non-leaguer to Lawrenceville (2-1). The Saints have D1 power Kent on Wednesday, then a trip to Maine to play Hebron (Saturday) and Kents Hill (Sunday).

#6 Rivers (9-5-0) lost to Tabor (5-3) in its only action of the week. The Red Wings look for a big win against top-ranked Worcester Academy (Wednesday) and have a tough one with St. Mark’s (Saturday).

Southfield (8-8-2) remains entrenched at #7 this week. Southfield dropped a one-goal game (2-1) to Worcester and blanked Middlesex (2-0) Saturday. Winchendon is Wednesday’s opponent before the showdown with Proctor Friday.

Berwick (11-6-0) makes an appearance at#8. The Bulldogs most recent result was a shutout win over North Yarmouth Academy (9-0). They get Hebron (Wednesday) and Kents Hill (Thursday).
