Girls Prep D1 Top 10
Nobles and Williston were the big winners Saturday in a pair of games involving the top four teams in last week’s rankings. As a result, they are 1-2 in this week’s HNIB News Girls D1 Prep Top 10.
Nobles (22-0-5) takes over the top spot after a 4-3 win over previously unbeaten and #1 Tabor, led by two goals from Kate Ham. The Dawgs also beat Andover (3-1) and Thayer (6-0). They close out the regular season with games against Governors Academy (Wednesday) and Milton (Saturday).
#2 Williston (19-1-2) won its showdown with Loomis Chaffee, a 4-2 win paced by a pair of strikes from Kate McDermott. It will be no rest for the weary for the Wildcats who have Deerfield (Wednesday), Winchendon (Friday) and BB&N (Saturday) before the post-season.
The loss to Nobles has Tabor (18-1-3) at #3 this week. The Seawolves, who also beat BB&N (2-1), wrap it up with St. George’s (Wednesday) and Berkshire (Saturday).
After a week that saw wins over Exeter (3-0), Tilton (3-1) and Winchendon (2-0), St. Paul’s (19-2-3) climbs up one to #4. SPS finishes with Proctor on Wednesday before playing in their first Lakes Region Tournament Friday/Saturday.
#5 Loomis Chaffee (14-3-4) has #8 Andover on Wednesday and #10 Deerfield on Saturday, both huge games for them in their quest for the post-season. So, the Pelicans should be ready for each team’s A-game.
#6 Kent (14-4-0) beat #7 Hotchkiss (12-4-2) in its only action of the week. The Lions close out with Gunnery (Wednesday) and Westminster (Saturday).
The Bearcats, hoping to get back into the post-season, will see Canterbury Monday, Choate Wednesday and Taft Saturday. They had a big win Saturday over Deerfield
Andover (11-5-4) followed up the loss to Nobles with wins over Milton (9-1) and Worcester Academy (5-1). After Loomis on Wednesday, the Big Blue will see rival Exeter on Saturday.
#9 New Hampton (19-6-1) has thrust itselft back in the playoff picture after wins over Dexter Southfield (7-3), Northfield (7-0) and Berwick (14-1). It is Kimball Union Wednesday before the Lakes Region Tournament. The Huskies are peaking at the right time.
Deerfield will have a tough road, closing out with Williston and Loomis to end the regular season.
