Heading into the final week of the regular season, the top three teams remained entrenched in the latest HNIB News Girls Division I Prep poll.
#1 Kent (17-0-1) got back into a regular swing of things this week with three games, and three wins over Hotchkiss (3-1), Kingswood (7-0) and Canterbury (3-1). They close with a pair of tough games this week against Gunnery (Wednesday) and Westminster (Saturday),
#2 Williston (16-0-4) was tied by Northfield (1-1), but the Wildcats came back with a key 2-1 OT win Saturday over Loomis Chaffee. A three-game final week features Deerfield (Wednesday), Winchendon (Saturday) and BB&N (Sunday),
#3 Nobles (22-2-2) also suffered a tie, a 2-2 standoff with Andover, but the ‘Dawgs did have a huge win Saturday with a 1-0 verdict of St. Paul’s. Governors (Wednesday) and Milton Academy (Saturday) close out the Nobles regular season.
The first movement comes at #4, where surging Tabor (15-4-1) moves up after shutout wins over Exeter (6-0) and Brooks (3-0). The Seawolves should be a lock for the post-season after finishing up with Cushing (Wednesday) and Thayer (Saturday).
#5 Pomfret (15-3-2) had a nice week, beating Loomis Chaffee (3-0) and Cushing (6-0) to move back into the top five. Milton (Wednesday) and Winchendon (Saturday) are on tap this week.
Those losses to Williston and Pomfret drop Loomis Chaffee (15-5-3) down to #6. The Pelicans move on to Northfield (Wednesday) and Deerfield (Saturday) as they look to get a post-season bid.
Going 0-2-1 in its last three games has St. Paul’s (18-3-2) in the #7 spot. The Big Red close with St. George’s (Wednesday) and Lawrence Academy (Saturday).
The poll’s final three spots remain the same, with Choate (13-6-3) at #8, Westminster (12-4-5) at #9 and New Hampton (13-7-3) at #10.
