Girls Prep hockey action is now back in full swing after the holiday break. Not much has changed in the HNIB News first Division I poll since late December.
Kent (8-0-1) hangs on to the #1 spot as its only result this week was a 2-0 win over Canterbury. The Lions will be challenged Wednesday when they take on Loomis Chafee. On Saturday, it will be Lawrenceville.
Unbeaten Williston (9-0-2) is #2, but for all intents and purposes, could be considered 1A. The Wildcats won the Winchendon Tournament over New Year’s and then blanked Tabor, 3-0. Williston will get Berkshire on Wednesday and then take on Gunnery (Saturday).
#3 Loomis Chaffee (6-1-3) picked up hard-fought wins over BB&N (2-0) and Berkshire (3-2) and will look to hand Kent its first loss on Wednesday. The Pelicans will face Hotchkiss on Saturday.
#4 Nobles (8-2-1) has not played since break and gets back into action Monday against Rivers. It will be Middlesex on Wednesday and then Berkshire on Saturday.
#5 Pomfret (8-1-2) swept a pair of games this weekend against Stanstead College Prep, coupled with a 3-1 win over Phillips Exeter. Taft (Wednesday) and Lawrence Academy (Friday) are this week’s opponents.
St. Paul’s (9-1-0) has also been idle and will resume action Wednesday with ISL foe Brooks. Andover is the opponent on Saturday. They hold firm at #6,
#7 Westminster (4-1-4) was held to a 1-1 standoff with Taft on Saturday. The Martlets have a key tilt Wednesday with #8 Choate (7-3-0), which avenged an earlier season loss with a 3-1 win over Phillips Andover. Westy has Northfield on Saturday, while Choate is set to do battle with Taft.
Although it lost to Choate, #9 Phillips Andover (7-3-0) stays in the poll. The Big Blue will take on Brooks on Monday, Brewster Academy on Friday and St. Paul’s on Saturday.
#10 Tabor also has a 3-game week, playing BB&N (Wednesday), Southfield (Friday) and Brewster Academy (Saturday).
