The top three in the HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Prep Division I poll remain status quo this week, two because they continue to roll, the other because they didn’t play a game due to exam break.

The Nobles machine rolls on, as wins this week over Lawrence Academy (6-0) and Cushing (4-1) push the ‘Dawgs record to 17-0-0. Wednesday the team is at St. George’s, and on Saturday, Nobles will host Brooks in what has the makings of a decent contest.

#2 St. Paul’s (16-0-1) struggled to get past Northfield (2-1), but then turned it on with wins over Winchendon (5-0) and Rivers (6-1). The Pelican will have a couple of testers this week, at St. Mark’s on Wednesday, and home against New Hampton on Friday night.

Mark your calendars: St. Paul’s at Nobles – February 15th – 3:15pm

#3 Tabor (10-1-2) was off for the week and won’t be back into game action until Wednesday when they travel to play a tough Rivers team. Two games loom on the weekend with battles against Lawrence Academy Friday and St. Mark’s Saturday.

Here it gets a bit tricky, with not much separating the next five or six teams in the poll. Some key losses were incurred this past week.

Kent (8-3-2) will move up to #4, as the Lions did not lose this week, picking up a huge win over Choate (1-0) and tying Taft (1-1). The Lions only action this week occurs Wednesday with a home game against Greenwich Academy.

#5 Westminster (9-4-1) edged Williston, 2-1, this week in a battle of Top Ten clubs, but then came up short in a physical contest with Gunnery, falling 2-1.  Things won’t get any easier for the Martlets, who are at Taft Monday and Pomfret Wednesday.

Choate (9-4-2) moves up a slot to #6. After the Wild Boars lost to Kent, they grabbed a pair of wins over Northwood (2-1) and Brewster Academy (6-2). There is one game this week, on Wednesday vs. Northfield Mt. Hermon.

Also moving up is #7 Loomis Chaffee (8-4-0). The Pelicans doubled up on Taft, 4-2, and blanked Greenwich Academy (2-0).  A big game looms Wednesday at Gunnery.

#8 Williston (11-4-3) hopes to snap out of a mini-slump this week when it hosts Taft on Wednesday. The Wildcats have dropped their last two to Westminster (2-1) and Hotchkiss (1-0).

#9 Pomfret (9-4-1) won a pair of games, downing Deerfield (4-1) and Northfield (5-3). The big game on Wednesday against Westminster will be key.

New Hampton (13-9-0) continues to round out the D-1 Poll. The Huskies will be road warrior this week, with games at Cushing (Wednesday), St. Paul’s (Friday) and Andover (Saturday).
