A new #1 has emerged in this week’s HNIB News Girls D2 Prep Poll, as Worcester Academy (10-2-2) takes over.

The Hilltoppers had a pair of wins, downing Exeter (4-3) and Berwick (7-4). Coach Kevin Zifcak’s club will be favored in both games this week, against Pingree (Wednesday) and North Yarmouth Academy (Saturday).

#2 Proctor (14-3-1) remained hot, as the Hornets beat Winchendon (3-1) and Pingree (8-0) and have now won six in a row. They will need to be at their best Wednesday when they tangle with Groton, then have weekend dates with Hebron (Saturday) and Kents Hill (Sunday).

Brooks (9-4-0) climbs a spot to #3. The Bishops gave D1 power St. Paul’s and Phillips Andover  all they could handle in one-goal losses before edging Lawrence Academy (4-3 in OT). It’s back to D2 this week with a Wednesday game with Tilton.

HNIB-2016-Girls-FestivalIt was an impressive week for #4 St. George’s (7-2-1). The Dragons blanked previous #1 Rivers (3-0) then followed that up with a 3-1 win at Southfield. An interesting tussle looms Wednesday with D1 heavy Tabor, followed by Governors Academy on Saturday.

#5 Canterbury (10-2-1) appears to have fixed what ailed them as the Saints ripped off wins over Millbrook (4-1), Greenwich Academy (3-1) and Kingswood (6-0). The Gunnery awaits Wednesday before another round with Kingswood (Saturday).

Three straight losses puts Rivers (7-3-0) down to #6. The Red Wings did rebound Saturday with a 3-0 win over Winchendon and have a tough week ahead with BB&N (Wednesday), Groton (Friday) and Brewster Academy (Saturday).

#7 Millbrook‘s only decision of the week was the 4-1 loss to Canterbury. The Mustangs will face streaking Westminster (Wednesday) and Greenwich Academy (Saturday).

Groton (9-4-0) reappears in the poll at #8. The Zebras knocked off NYA (6-3) and Milton Academy (1-0). They face ranked teams in Proctor (Wednesday) and Rivers (Friday) before playing Vermont Academy on Saturday.
