Rivers (9-2-3) hangs on to the #1 ranking in this week’s HNIB News Girls Division 2 Prep poll, which saw the rest of the pack jostle a bit.

The Red Wings beat Brooks (4-1) and Winchendon (4-1), lost to Nobles (3-0) and tied St. George’s (1-1). Coming up, Rivers will see BB&N (Wednesday), then travel to Groton (Friday) and Brewster Academy (Saturday).

#2 Worcester Academy (8-3-0) had a pair of shutout wins over Exeter (2-0) and Portsmouth Abbey (7-0) and looks to continue on a roll this week against Proctor (Monday) and North Yarmouth Academy (Saturday).

#3 Kimball Union (8-3-1) bounced back from a loss to Stanstead College with a 3-0 win over Holderness.  Vermont Academy (Wednesday) and Hebron (Saturday) are on this week’s plate.

Canterbury (8-4-3) suffered its first D2 loss with a 4-0 setback to Greenwich Academy and moves down a bit to #4. The Saints have just one game this week, but it is a big one against Gunnery.

#5 Thayer (9-3-2) also got tripped up, falling 1-0 to Southfield. The Tigers were also tied by Berwick (3-3) and downed Albany Academy (7-1). This week’s foes? St. Paul’s on Wednesday and Kents Hill on Saturday.

After a 10-day layoff, #6 Gunnery (4-7-0) returned to action and fell to D1 power Williston 3-0. Another D1 opponent looms Monday with Hotchiss. The Highlanders also see Lawrenceville on Saturday after the Canterbury battle.

Don’t be fooled by #7 Brooks (3-7-2) overall mark. The Bishops have more than held their own against D2 competition. They have a key one Wednesday with #8 Tilton (7-4-3). The Rams beat Holderness (4-1) and NYA (4-0) this past week. Tilton also hosts Albany Academy (Friday) and Northfield Mt. Hermon (Saturday).

A host of teams are lurking just outside the poll. Keep an eye on Proctor, Groton, Governors Academy and defending champion St. George’s
