Girls Prep Division II Poll
* Updated 2/15/15
#1 Rivers (14-6-1) won its showdown with Worcester Academy, winning 2-1 last Wednesday. The Red Wings also had wins over Thayer (3-1) and St. Mark’s (4-3) to keep their stranglehold on the top spot in the HNIB News Girls Division II Prep poll.
The Red Wings have Governors Academy on Wednesday before an interesting trip to Proctor on Saturday.
Southfield (10-4-2) blew a four-goal lead and lost in OT to D1 Winchendon 5-4, and then took its frustration out on Proctor, taking out the Hornets, 7-1. When the dust cleared, they moved up to #2. Two key games loom this week: at New Hampton (Wednesday) and at Berwick (Saturday).
Despite being idle for the week, with two postponed games, Canterbury (10-3-1) actually moves up a rung to #3. The Saints get back into action against Millbrook (Wednesday) and Winchendon (Saturday).
#4 Worcester Academy (13-5-3) lost by a goal to Rivers, then were upset 3-2 by Vermont Academy Saturday; those results dropped the Hilltoppers to #4. Winchendon (Wednesday) and Holderness (Friday) are a pair of opportunities for redemption.
Berwick (18-1-3) moves up a spot to #5 after a week that saw a pair of wins over Newton Country Day (both 2-0) and a 4-4 standoff with Brooks. This week, Berwick gets Winsor (Wednesday) and Pingree (Friday) before challenging Southfield (Saturday).
#6 Gunnery (6-8-1) fell to Millbrook (1-0) and beat Kingswood (4-3). The Highlanders have one scheduled game this week against Vermont Academy on Wednesday.
#7 Hebron (14-7-0) played only once this past week, slipping past Kents Hill (3-2). A key game looms Wednesday with #8 Proctor (13-6-1), which rebounded with a 4-0 win over Holderness after getting trounced by Southfield.
The Lumberjacks play Kimball Union on Saturday, while Proctor also has Northfield on Friday prior to welcoming #1 Rivers to town.
