There continues to be little that separates the top teams in Girls D2 Prep hockey. And, going with that theme, this week’s HNIB News Girls D2 Prep poll stays almost exactly the same, with updated records of course.

#1 Rivers (11-2-5) played to a 3-3 tie with Thayer in its only action. Two D1 opponents will test the Red Wings this week in Tabor (Wednesday) and Milton Academy (Saturday).

#2 Worcester Academy (12-3-0) has inched closer to the top, thanks to wins over Brooks (1-0) and Holderness (10-1). The Hilltoppers must be wary of Southfield (Wednesday) and Winchendon (Saturday).

Also getting closer to the top is #3 Kimball Union (12-3-1). The Wildcats beat both Holderness (6-1) and Governors Academy (2-1). This week, they will face off with Kents Hill (Wednesday) and Proctor (Saturday).

#4 Canterbury (9-4-4) had a quiet week, with a 3-0 win over Rye Country Day its only result. The Saints get Taft Monday and then Lawrenceville on Wednesday.

#5 Gunnery (8-8-1) had a very impressive week with wins over D1 opponents Taft (1-0) and Berkshire (4-1) before beating Hill School of Pennsylvania (2-0). Expect the Highlanders to give D1 power Loomis Chaffee a battle on Wednesday.

With no one faltering above them, #6 Thayer (12-4-3) is finding it difficult to move up. The Tigers followed up the impressive deadlock with Rivers with a 2-0 win over Middlesex. They take on Brooks Wednesday and Milton Academy Saturday.

#7 Tilton (11-5-3) had two-goal wins over Exeter (4-2) and Governors Academy (6-4) to reach 11 overall wins. This week the Rams will test themselves with New Hampton (Monday), and get Hoosac School (Wednesday) and Pingree (Saturday).

Brooks (5-9-2) holds firm at #8, coming off a big 2-1 win over Southfield. After Thayer, the Bishops have Nobles on Saturday.
