Worcester Academy (14-4-1) is the new #1 in this week’s HNIB News Girls D2 Prep Poll. The Hilltoppers knocked off previously top-ranked Rivers 3-1 and also edged Vermont Academy (1-0). An interesting week looms for Worcester with three Division 1 opponents this week – Winchendon (Wednesday), Holderness (Friday) and Phillips Andover (Saturday).

Kimball Union (13-4-2) stays in the #2 spot. The Wildcats bounced back from a loss to D1 Exeter (2-1) with a 6-0 shutout win over Berwick. They have a key game Wednesday with Tilton, followed by tilts against Vermont Academy (Friday) and Hebron (Saturday).

#3 Rivers (12-5-5) will look to get things righted this week with games against Governors Academy (Wednesday) and Proctor (Saturday). The Red Wings also lost this past week to St. Mark’s by a 7-0 count.

#4 Canterbury made its weekend trek north a profitable one, taking down Hebron (2-1 in OT) and Kents Hill (5-0) after falling to D1 power Kent (4-0). The Saints take on Millbrook (Wednesday) and Winchendon (Saturday).

#5 Gunnery (10-10-1) was upset by Millbrook Wednesday (1-0) but responded in a big way with back-to-back 3-0 wins over Vermont Academy (3-0) and Greenwich Academy (3-0). The Highlanders are scheduled to play Vermont Academy again on Wednesday in their only action of the week.

#6 Thayer (14-6-3) thumped Governors Academy (4-0) but then were thumped by D1 Lawrence Academy (6-1). The Tigers have a tough week with St. Mark’s (Wednesday) and Nobles (Friday), and will see North Yarmouth Academy (Saturday).

Tilton (13-5-3) stays at #7 after being idle all week (a game with Vermont Academy was postponed due to weather). The Rams will see Vermont this Saturday after taking on Kimball Union.

#8 Proctor (11-8-3) is hoping to get into the post-season and wins over Brewster Academy (4-0) and Holderness (5-0) will be a help. This week, the Hornets have Hebron (Wednesday) before their key tilt with Rivers.

On the Bubble: Southfield (9-7-3), St. George’s (8-7-2)
