Girls Prep D1 Top 10
Despite a 1-1 tie with Westminster Saturday, Tabor (12-0-2) hangs on to the #1 spot in this week’s HNIB News Girls D1 Prep Top 10. The Seawolves will be busy this week, taking on Andover (Wednesday), Lawrence Academy (Friday) and St. Mark’s (Saturday).
#2 Williston (15-1-1) stretched its win streak to six games, grinding out victories over Westminster (3-1) and Hotchkiss (2-0). A Wednesday matchup with Taft is the Wildcats only action of the week.
#3 Nobles (14-0-5) and #5 St. Paul’s (13-2-2) met for the second time this year, and the result was exactly the same, a 1-1 standoff. Nobles gets the top 2 teams in D2 this week in St. Georges’s (Wednesday) and Brooks (Saturday). The Big Red take on St. Mark’s (Wednesday) and New Hampton (Friday).
In between them is #4 Loomis Chaffee (10-2-4), continuing hot with wins over BB&N (2-0) and Greenwich Academy (9-1). Gunnery is Wednesday’s opponent.
#6 Kent (10-4-0) got upended by Choate (3-1) in an upset loss, but regrouped and followed that with a 7-0 thrashing of Taft. The Lions play #7 Hotchkiss (8-2-2) on Monday in what could be a key battle with playoff implications. The Bearcats, who beat Millbrook (6-1) earlier in the week, also have Berkshire on Wednesday.
Deerfield (11-5-2) climbs to #8 after shutout wins over Pomfret (6-0) and Andover (3-0). The Big Green are at Winchedon Wednesday.
#9 New Hampton (12-4-1) came up short Saturday in a 3-2 loss to St. Mark’s, coming after wins over Winchendon (3-1) and Vermont Academy (3-1). The Huskies have busy week with four games: Tilton (Monday), Cushing (Wednesday), St. Paul’s (Friday), Andover (Saturday).
BB&N (7-5-2) creeps back into the Top 10, following up the loss to Loomis with wins over previously-ranked Andover (2-1) and Cushing (3-0).
