Not a lot of excitement in the Girls Prep Division I ranks this week. The top ten teams combined suffered only two losses, and both were to other ranked clubs.
#1 Kent (13-0-1) was responsible for one of those results, knocking off Choate (2-1). The Lions rolled over Taft, 6-1, on Saturday. Only one game this week, and that is against D2 Greenwich Academy on Wednesday.
The other loss was thanks to #2 Williston (13-0-2). The Wildcats edged Westminster, 2-1, on Wednesday. Williston also survived Hotchkiss Saturday, taking a 1-0 win. Taft is Wednesday’s opponent in a light week.
#3 Nobles (13-2-1) blanked Cushing, 3-0, its fourth shutout in five games. The ‘Dawgs have three more games this week, taking on St. George’s (Wednesday), Exeter (Friday) and Brooks (Saturday).
#4 Loomis Chaffee (11-2-3) picked up three wings this week, downing Taft (3-1), Brewster Academy (7-1) and Greenwich Academy (4-0). The Pelicans have a key makeup game with #5 Pomfret (12-2-2) Monday (weather permitting) and play Gunnery (Wednesday). The Griffins have another big game on Wednesday, taking on Westminster.
#6 St. Paul’s (14-1-0) keeps on winning. The Big Red beat Northfield (4-1) and Winchendon (1-0) this week and look to continue their solid ways against St. Mark’s (Wednesday) and New Hampton (Friday).
#7 Westminster (8-2-5) fell to Williston, but rebounded with a 4-0 blanking of Gunnery. The Martlets are ready for Pomfret Wednesday.
It was a split week for #8 Choate (10-5-1), which lost to Kent, but edged Brewster Academy (1-0). Northfield is Wednesday’s opponent.
Wins over St. Mark’s (5-2) and Deerfield (4-0) keep Phillips Andover (11-4-1) solidly entrenched in the #9 position. This week, rival Exeter is Wednesday’s foe, and then it will be New Hampton on Saturday.
#10 Tabor (9-4-0) was off this week. The Seawolves are scheduled to play three times this week: Rivers (Wednesday), Lawrence Academy (Friday) and St. Mark’s (Saturday).
