Mass. Girls Division 2 Poll
|4||Notre Dame Academy||2||13||7||2|
Returning to the MIAA Girls Division 2 state final for the fourth time in five years, this edition of the Wellesley High girls hockey team was determined not to come up short, as its predecessors did in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
The Raiders knocked off Canton, 1-0, to win the state title. The win put an exclamation point on a 19-2-3 season.
Wellesley was undefeated in Division 2 play, as the Raiders only two losses came at the hands of D1 power Austin Prep in a pair of non-league games. The Raiders boasted a deep, talented lineup and are the #1 team in the HNIB News Final Massachusetts Girls D2 Top 10.
#2 Canton (18-4-3) reached the state final for the second straight season. The Bulldogs utilized a strong defensive style of play, backboned by senior goalie Colleen Kelleher, to be amongst the top teams in the division all season long.
#3 Archbishop Williams (16-5-2) reached the semifinal round and gave Canton all it could handle.
Winners of the previous two state titles in Division 2, Notre Dame Academy (13-7-2) comes in at #4, having lost to Canton in the quarterfinals.
Rounding out the final top five is Natick (16-5-2), which enjoyed one of the top seasons in program history.
