After an impressive regular season, Plymouth South had an even better post-season, culminating in a 4-3 overtime win over Stoneham in the MIAA Divison 2 state title game to clinch the program’s first state hockey title. The Panthers (20-3-2) grab the # spot in the HNIB News end-of-the year Massachusetts Boys D2 Top 15.
Despite the one-goal loss, North champion Stoneham (18-5-2) had a banner campaign. The Spartans spent the whole season at or near the top of the Mass. D2 rankings and take the #2 spot in this final poll.
Canton (17-3-4) entered the post-season ranked #1 in our poll, but the Bulldogs fell victim to the Plymouth South charge in the D2 South semifinals. Canton ends the season at #3.14-6-3)
D2 South runner-up Medfield (14-6-3) climbs up to #4.
#5 Boston Latin (13-8-2) was not even ranked in out final regular season Top 15, but the Wolfpack had a banner post-season, knocking off defending champ Lowell Catholic. Methuen and North Andover to reach the D2 North final, where they gave Stoneham all it could handle in a 2-1 loss.
