Although certain events in the world prevented Wellesley from a chance to win a third straight MIAA Girls Division 2 state title outright, the 2020 co-champs stay in the #1 spot in the HNIB News end-of-the-season Massachusetts Girls Division 1 Top 10.

The Raiders, who held firm in the top spot since the pre-season, finished the regular season 19-1-0 and outscored opponents 90-12. They continued that march in the post-season, winning three more games by a 15-1 margin. The state final would have been an interesting take, going up against fellow co-champion and #2 Canton (19-1-4), which had an impressive season in its own right.

The Bulldogs, despite some key graduation losses, reloaded quite nicely and looked forward to the challenge of battling Wellesley for a state crown. Canton’s only loss was to #6 Westwood (15-6-3)

#3 Norwell (20-3-0) reached the semifinals and chalked up 20 wins.

#4 Notre Dame Academy (14-6-3 overall) was a double overtime loss from reaching the semifinal round.

#5 Falmouth (13-6-5) won three tournament games, including two against Cape rivals #8 Dennis-Yarmouth (13-3-3) and #10 Sandwich (17-6-0), to be a semifinalist as well.
