Final Maine Class B Top 10: #1 Old Town/Orono finishes strong against Hampden Academy

No. 1 Old Town/Orono finishes the regular season on top of the Class B poll with a 6-1 victory over Hampden Academy. As the top seed in the Class B North playoffs, they receive a bye into the regional semifinals on March 3. They will take on the Hampden Academy-Houlton/Hodgdon/Southern Aroostook/Katahdin quarterfinal winner.

No. 2 Cape Elizabeth defeated Gorham on Thursday. As the second seed in the Class B South playoffs they receive a bye into the regional semifinals. They face the York-Brunswick quarterfinal winner.

No. 3 Greely defeated Yarmouth 4-1 and skated to a 1-1 tie with St. Dom’s this week. They enter the Class B South playoffs as the top seed and will await the winner of the quarterfinal contest between Yarmouth and Gorham.

No. 4 York came away with a 8-3 win over Gardiner and a 5-2 win over Kennebunk/Wells this week. They are the three seed in Class B South and will host Brunswick.

No. 5 Presque Isle moves up with a 6-1 win over Lawrence/Skowhegan/MCI. They are the No. 3 seed in the Class B North playoffs and will face Camden Hills in the quarterfinals.

No. 6 Hampden Academy drops with the 6-1 loss to Old Town/Orono. They host Houlton/Hodgdon/Southern Aroostook/Katahdin in the quarterfinals.

No. 7 Waterville/Winslow had the week off. They enter the Class B North playoffs as the No. seed and earn a bye into the regional semifinals. They will take on the Presque Isle-Camden Hills winner.

No. 8 Yarmouth remains in place with the 4-1 loss to Greely, but earned a a 4-3 win over Gardiner on Thursday. They are the No. 4 seed in the Class B South playoffs and will host Gorham.

No. 9 Houlton/Hodgdon/Southern Aroostook/Katahdin defeated Lawrence/Skowhegan/MCI 3-2 in the regual season finale. They travel down to Hampden Academy for their opening playoff game.

No. 10 Gorham had a 4-1 win over Kennebunk/Wells on on Tuesday before the defeat to Cape Elizabeth on Thursday. They have their playoff game against Yarmouth.
