It was just one year ago when Nobles entered the Girls Prep Division 1 championship undefeated and came up short, falling to Kent. This year, also unbeaten heading into the inaugural Elite 8 (Chuck Vernon) Tournament, Nobles came out on top, holding off a determined Phillips Andover team in a 5-4 classic.
The Bulldawgs went box-to-wire in the #1 spot in the HNIB News Girls Prep Top 15, starting at the top and finishing at the top with a record of 32-0-1.
Williston, which upended last year’s Division 1 champion Kent in the Elite 8 quarterfinals, and fell to Nobles 1-0 in a semifinal matchup, finishes the season at #2.
The biggest jumper was Phillips Andover (18-8-0), up to #3 after an impressive playoff run that almost resulted in a New England championship.
Large School champion St. Paul’s (21-6-0) holds down the #7 position, while Small School champion Cushing (19-14-1), which finished on a hot streak, is at #11.
