With an outstanding second half and the program’s first CIAC championship in 15 years, Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks finishes on top of the HNIB News Connecticut Division II rankings. The Wildcats avenged an early loss to North Branford with a 4-1 win in the final after stunning Branford, quickly and decisively, in the semifinals. The championship was the Wildcats’ first in 15 years.

North Branford took out Conard, which for most of the year hadn’t lost to a Division II program, in the semis, shaking off a mediocre second half to get hot in the end. Branford had come from behind to knock out Fairfield in the quarterfinals.

Cheshire opened the tournament with a win over conference foe North Haven, but it ran into Conard in the next round.

Newington/Berlin/Manchester met a similar fate at North Branford’s hands in the quarters, as did New Milford to Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks after taking out Fermi/Enfield/East Granby/Stafford in the first round.
