What an end to the 2018-19 season. In a game for the ages, BC High edged Pope Francis 2-1 in a four-overtime thriller to win the Massachusetts Division 1A Super 8 championship. It was the fourth meeting of the season between the two powers,  a series that saw three one-goal games (2 won by the Eagles) and a tie.

With this final win, BC High gets the #1 spot in this final HNIB News Massachusetts Boys Division 1 Top 20, just a tick ahead of #2 Pope Francis, whose only two losses this season were to the Eagles.

Hingham finishes at #3, while an impressive post-season run vaulted Xaverian to the fourth position.

Massachusetts Division 1 state champion Duxbury, which led all of Division 1 with 22 wins, takes the #5 spot, while fellow publics Arlington and Framingham follow at #6 and #7 respectively.

A former sportswriter and news editor at the Woburn (MA) Daily Times Chronicle, he has been the HNIB News' key reporter for Mens Prep School hockey since 1988, as well as womens hockey, both at the prep school and high school levels. for almost 20 years. Gary also helps organize and oversee HNIB's many summer tournaments and festivals for scholastic players.
