EMass D-3 North-South game: Hanover moves on to state final

Pat Nevins scored two goals, and Matt McDougall added the other as Hanover shut out Wayland, 3-0, in the Division 3 Eastern Mass. boys hockey championship game at Gallo Ice Arena March 12.

Hanover attempts to win its first state title since 2007 when it meets either Shrewsbury or Westfield at the TD Garden Sunday, March 16, at 11 a.m. Shrewsbury, the Central Mass. champion, meets Westfield, the defending Division 3 state champ and current Western Mass. champion, at the Mass Mutual Center at 5:30 p.m. March 13.

After a scoreless first period, the Indians got the only goal they would need early in the second period on Nevins’ first tally.

Matt McDougall got the huge second goal for Hanover midway through the third period.

Wayland pulled goalie Ben Boschetto with 2:09 to play looking to get a pair of goals to tie the game, but that wouldn’t be the case. Nivens notched an empty-netter to make it a 3-0 contest and send Hanover to the Garden.
