Four teams finished with 3-0 records at last weekend’s Veterans Day Showcase at Tri-Town Arena in Hookset, NH but none was more dominant than the Philadelphia Little Flyers. The South Division leaders outscored three opponents, 14-0, shutting out the Boston Jr. Rangers (1-0), the East Coast Wizards (9-0) and the New England Wolves (4-0).

Goalie Greg Procopio registered the shutouts of the Rangers and Wolves, turning back 42 total shots on the way to earning the league’s Goaltender of the Week honors. Trevor Micucci stopped 23 shots while shutting out the Wizards.

Oleg Potemkin set up Tyler Pietrowski for the game’s lone goal in the win against the Rangers. Jesse Macintyre and Potemkin staked the Flyers to a quick 2-0 lead against the Wizards before the floodgates opened in that one. John Nugent had a goal and three assists and Cam Berry set up five goals. Potemkin potted the first two goals and added an assist on a Nugent tally in the win against the Wolves.

The Little Flyers head into this weekend with a 14-1-1-1 record and league-best .882 winning percentage. They have opened a 10-point lead on the second-place Philadelphia Junior Flyers.

The Junior Flyers also went 3-0 at the Showcase paced by league Offensive Player of the Week Jon Ruiz, who had three goals and three assists and ranks second in the league in both goals (16) and points (26). He is tied for the league lead with four GWGs.

The North Division’s second-place Northern Cyclones and the Central Division leading Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights also went 3-0 on the weekend.

The league’s Christmas Showcase is set for December 19-21 at the International Skating Center of Connecticut in Simsbury, CT.
