EHL Premier: South dominates Veteran’s Day Showcase

The Philadelphia Revolution and upward-trending New Jersey Rockets were both unbeaten during the Veteran’s Day Showcase dominated by the South Conference Nov. 7-9 at The International Skating Center of Connecticut in Simsbury, CT.

The event, hosted by the Connecticut Nighthawks, was dominated by South Conference clubs, which prevailed in 18 of the 27 games.

The South Conference leading Revolution – on a franchise-record nine-game winning streak – extended their lead by sweeping the East Coast Wizards (4-1), the New England Wolves (3-1) and the Valley Jr. Warriors (3-0). The Revs have posted five shutouts during the streak, four by Cayden Primeau.

Meanwhile the Rockets were most impressive while stretching their modest winning streak to four games by defeating the Boston Jr. Rangers (4-2), the NH Jr. Monarchs (4-2) and the Northern Cyclones (4-1). Goalie Cam Newman amassed 127 saves, including 60 against the Rangers.

No North Conference team won each of its games and only the Walpole Express and Cyclones won two. The Vermont Lumberjacks, Boston Jr. Rangers and East Coast Wizards all came up empty.

A full weekend slate features key games in both conferences. In the South, the second-place Hartford Jr. Wolfpack visit the third-place Connecticut Oilers Saturday night while the Revolution visit the Rockets Sunday night. In the North, the first-place Bandits head to Hudson, NH Sunday to take on the third-place Cyclones, who have won 8-of-10 behind the conference’s most potent offense.

In the Elite Division, the Monarchs have opened a six-point lead on the second-place Express and are averaging a shade over five goals through 19 games.
