Connecticut HS Highlights: Swiggett’s OT Strike Lifts Darien Over New Canaan

Mike Gethings‘  goal and three assists proved key in #7 Hamden’s huge 5-2 victory over #9 Notre Dame-West Haven. The Green Dragons are now 9-6-0.

* Darien senior Blake Swiggett punched in the the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the third-ranked Blue Wave (10-4-0) to a 4-3 triumph over #4 New Canaan. On a roll, Darien has now won six straight games.

* Farmington Valley’s Tyler Stoneman netted the game-winning tally over South Windsor to help the fourth-ranked Generals (7-4-2) qualify for the Division 2 postseason tournament.

* Division 1 #1 Ridgefield (13-0-0) has already scored 63 goals on the season. The Tigers outscored Trumbull and St. Joseph this past week by a 13-1 margin.

* Notre Dame-West Haven (8-6-0) sophomore goaltender Connor Smith stopped 28 shots during the Green Knights’ 4-1 victory over Greenwich.

* D1 #6 NFI got a pair of goals from Zach Conboy to help lead the Mustangs (5-2-4) to a 5-3 win over Division 2 top-ranked Guilford.

* East Haven Co-op netminder Logan Hamilton was stellar in goal as he made 43 saves in a 3-1 loss to Amity. The Yellowjackets presently sit at 6-8-1.

* Amity’s Jason Csejka surpassed the 50 goal plateau this past week for his career during a 3-1 victory over East Haven Co-op.The Spartans are 8-6-0 and qualified for the Division 2 postseason tournament.

Jack Carroll and Evan Farruggio each notched their first career varsity goals during Fairfield Prep’s 6-3 victory over Malden Catholic (MA). The Jesuits, ranked fifth in Division 1, are 7-6-0.
