The Brookfield-Bethel-Danbury co-op … aka “BBD” … had played only one game so far this season coming out of the holiday break. But it was enough for the Icecats to move into the top spot in the Hockey Night in Boston Connecticut Division 3 rankings.

With the win over Tri-Town, BBD edges just ahead of No. 2 E.O. Smith/Tolland, which is off to a strong start with wins over Rocky Hill, South Windsor and Enfield.

Newington slipped from the top spot to No. 3, having lost to New Milford after winning its first two against McMahon-Norwalk and Eastern Connecticut.

Despite the loss to BBD, Tri-Town is up to No. 4 thanks to a win over Conard, which is now No. 5. The Chieftains also have a win over Enfield and a tie with Cheshire.

No. 6 McMahon-Norwalk’s up-and-down start also includes a win over JBWA and a tie with Milford.

SGWL is up to No. 7, splitting games with Housatonic (win) and North Branford.

The lone new entry this week is No. 8 JBWA, which followed the NorMac loss with wins over Housatonic and Staples.
