Things have started to settle a little bit at the top of the latest Hockey Night in Boston Connecticut Division 1 rankings, where at least the top two teams have created a bit of separation from the rest of the field.

No. 1 Fairfield Prep has six consecutive wins since its season-opening loss, including victories last week over Notre Dame-Fairfield and Hamden. The Jesuits will try to keep their run going this week against Xavier and Immaculate.

Notre Dame-West Haven still has the one loss to FP, and added to its win ledger last week against Ridgefield. The No. 2 Green Knights will be busy this week with road games against Notre Dame-Fairfield (Wednesday), West Haven (Saturday) and Hamden (Sunday).

No. 3 Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe, one of just two teams in Connecticut with a perfect record, continues to push to get into the conversation with the top programs. The Mustangs scored a big win last week against New Canaan, and now have a big home-and-home series this week against Darien.

Speaking of No. 4 Darien, the Blue Wave also will be trying to make a statement this week against the team ranked just ahead of them. Darien righted the ship a bit last week by sweeping Ridgefield and St. Joseph to get back above .500.

Xavier rounds out the top five this week, finally getting back onto the ice Sunday night with a win over Notre Dame-Fairfield. The Falcons will be in action four times in the next seven days – vs. Immaculate,  Simsbury, Fairfield Prep and Woodstock Academy.

Greenwich claims the No. 6 spot this week thanks to a win over New Canaan, which drops to No. 7. The teams meet again Wednesday, and Greenwich also hosts Ridgefield on Saturday. As for New Canaan, the Rams also lost to Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe and have been in a bit of a spin since their season-opening win over Fairfield Prep. NC also has a game against St. Joseph to cap the week.

Simsbury makes its first appearance in the rankings this week at No. 8, thanks to a win over Northwest Catholic. Simsbury takes on Div. 2 Farmington Valley twice this week in addition to a matchup with Xavier.
