The top teams in the Hockey Night in Boston Connecticut Division 1 boys hockey rankings took care of business, for the most part, last week. As a result, there is no change to the top half of the order as we begin to enter the stretch run.

No. 1 Fairfield Prep ran its win streak to eight by beating Immaculate and Xavier. The Jesuits have one one game this week, but it’s a huge one — Wednesday’s road matchup with Notre Dame-West Haven (4 p.m., Bennett Rink).

Speaking of ND-West Haven, the Green Knights remain at No. 2 after beating Notre Dame-Fairfield in its only action last week. In addition to Fairfield Prep, the Knights can’t look past Saturday’s game vs. a ranked Xavier squad.

Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe got pushed to the limit twice by Darien last week. While the Mustangs couldn’t preserve their perfect record, they did rally for a 4-3 win Wednesday and then a late 2-2 tie Saturday to stay unbeaten. That leaves FWL at No. 3 this week, trailed closely by Darien at No. 4.

They’ll finally get a break from playing each other — FWL takes on St. Joseph and Ridgefield, while the Blue Wave have a pair of ranked matchups with Greenwich and New Canaan.

Greenwich moves up a spot below Darien to No. 5 this week in advance of their Tuesday matchup. The Cardinals follow with Westhill-Stamford and St. Joseph.

Xavier drops a spot to No. 6, despite wins over Immaculate, Simsbury and Woodstock Academy, with its only loss coming against Fairfield Prep — a game in which the Falcons squandered a 2-0 lead. It’s another four-game week on the ice, with ND-Fairfield, Northwestn Catholic and West Haven in addition to the ND-West Haven showdown.

New Canaan holds the No. 7 spot after splitting games with Greenwich (loss) and St. Joseph (win). It doesn’t get easier this week for the Rams, with tests vs. Ridgefield and Darien.

The record might not look strong, but No. 8 Ridgefield has been battle-tested all season. The Tigers will try to continue to assert themselves this week with their games against Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe and New Canaan.
