The top four teams from last week’s HNIB News Connecticut Division 1 boys hockey rankings all lost once in the last seven days. So who deserves the top spot this week?

Let’s go with Fairfield Prep, for one simple reason. Although the Jesuits fell in overtime Sunday to Mount St. Charles, none of their three losses are vs. other Connecticut teams. That’s a good enough reason as any to return FP to the top spot where it started the season. This week should be telling as the Jesuits face Darien, Xavier and Hamden.

Darien drops a spot to No. 2 after falling to Greenwich.  The Blue Wave also face Westhill-Stamford and St. Joseph this week.

Notre Dame-West Haven dropped a tight one Saturday to Bishop Fenwick (Mass.), but the No. 3 Green Knights did score an earlier win against Xavier. ND-WH takes on Bishop Hendricken (R.I.) and Notre Dame-Fairfield.

Ridgefield is on a roll and moves up to No. 4 off wins against Westhill-Stamford and Staples. The Tigers will try to keep things going against two solid Div. 1 teams – ND-Fairfield and New Canaan.

Xavier is down to No. 5 after splitting last week, including a solid win against Northwest Catholic. The Falcons follow up Fairfield Prep with a game vs. Simsbury.

No. 6 New Canaan scored a lone win against St. Joseph, and takes on Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe as well as Ridgefield.

No. 7 Hamden swept past Immaculate and St. Joseph. The Green Dragons play West Haven as well as Fairfield Prep.

Simsbury flips up to No. 8 after last week’s win against Notre Dame-Fairfield, which swaps down to No. 9. Simsbury plays Glastonbury and Conard before facing Xavier, while the Lancers have their tough week with Ridgefield and ND-West Haven.

Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe remains at No. 10 after sweeping Wilton and Amity. The Mustangs will be busy this week with North Haven, New Canaan and Staples on the slate.
