The 10 teams remain the same, but there was plenty of movement in this week’s HNIB News Connecticut Division 1 rankings off an eventful set of games around the New Year.
One team that isn’t budging is #1 Notre Dame-West Haven, which scored big wins against Hamden and Simsbury. This week’s docket features an interesting home matchup Saturday with Darien.
Fairfield Prep was not in action, and took advantage of some of the movement to slide back up to #2.
Darien will take a #3 ranking into its meeting with ND-West Haven, as the Blue Wave handed now #4 Xavier its first loss of the season. Xavier will try to bounce back vs. St. Joseph and Smithfield (RI).
Ridgefield has climbed out of an 0-2 hole back above .500 and now is #5 after taking down #6 Hamden. Ridgefield visits LaSalle Academy of Rhode Island on Saturday, while Hamden has road tests with Simsbury (Wednesday) and Greenwich (Saturday).
#7 West Haven held its spot despite a split, beating North Haven but falling to Branford. WH hosts Fairfield Warde/Ludlow on Monday, then is at East Haven on Saturday.
#8 New Canaan flips spots with #9 Notre Dame-Fairfield thanks to its 3-2 road win Saturday. New Canaan visits Staples (Wed.) and Northwest Catholic (Sat.), while NDF will host the Lancer Beanpot next weekend featuring Prout (RI), Archbishop Williams (MA) and St. Dominic’s (ME).
Simsbury remains #10 despite its loss to ND-West Haven. Aside from the matchup with Hamden, Simsbury also is home Saturday vs. South Windsor.
