Connecticut Division 2 Quarterfinals: Upsets Galore As Top 3 Seeds Falter

The Division 2 boys’ quarterfinals took place Friday evening and saw three of the higher seeds were all knocked out.

* The biggest upset of the night came from #9 WMRP, who eliminated top-seed Watertown-Pomperaug 4-1. Aaron Cholewa netted a pair of goals for the Eagles. Brody Davidson and Trevor Piecewicz each collected one goal and one assist. WMRP goaltender Jake Peckrul stopped 29 shots. Indians goaltender Ryan Fleming made 31 saves.

* The upset machine continued following #10 Farmington Valley’s 4-3 overtime triumph over #2 Guilford. Eric Schweitzer notched the game-winning goal for the Indians. Matt Arena collected his 100th career point in the victory.

* #6 Glastonbury stunned #3 Cheshire 5-2. Jeff Kantor recorded one goal and one assist for the winning Tomahawks.

* Chris Donadio and Spencer Engstrom recorded one goal and one assist each to lead #4 Branford over #5 South Windsor 3-1. Devin Trombley made 24 saves for South Windsor.
