Connecticut Division 1 Top 10: Big out-of-state week ahead for Fairfield Prep

Xavier, Greenwich and New Fairfield Immaculate see an upward trend in this week’s HNIB News Connecticut Division 1 Top 10, while Simsbury re-enters the rankings at #10.

Fairfield Prep continues in the #1 spot, a position it has held all season. The Jesuits cruised to an 8-1 win over #8 Notre Dame of Fairfield in their only action last week. This week, Prep will see a gauntlet of  powerhouses in Malden Catholic Wednesday and then Delbarton (NJ) in the first round of the Pope Francis Invitational in Springfield MA on Friday.

#2 Ridgefield (11-2-0) rolled to three wins over New Canaan, Wilton and Simsbury by a combined score of 19-2. The Tigers have Darien Wednesday and Trumbull on Friday.

Fairfield Prep and Ridgefield are set to meet on February 14th.

Xavier (10-5-0) is up to #3 after downing Northwest Catholic 5-4 before a one-goal loss (2-1) to Rhode Island’s top team – LaSalle. They face #5 Notre Dame of West Haven (Wednesday) and West Haven (Saturday).

#4 Greenwich (11-2-0) took care of a pair of NY teams, beating Iona Prep (6-1) and Rye Country Day (7-3). The Cardinals have Westhill/Stamford Wednesday and Trinity Catholic Saturday.

NFI/Immaculate (8-2-2) moves up to #6 following a solid win over Guilford. Branford (Wednesday) and Notre Dame Fairfield (Saturday) are on this week’s docket.
