Connecticut D3 Top 10: Sheehan Takes Over At #1

In 1972, two lifetime high school hockey fans started a weekly broadcast of Greater Boston high school games on WBOS-FM (92.9). The duo - Lance LoFaro and Darby Yaeger - called the nightly broadcasts "Hockey Night in Boston". As of late, HNIBnews - over 40 years running - has kept the scholastic hockey world on its feet with its widely-read website In addition to HNIBnews, Hockey Night in Boston runs, and also hosts summer tournaments showcasing the talents of scholastic hockey.

Sheehan (6-2-0) climbs up to the top of the Connecticut Division 3 rankings this week after posting solid wins over Milford (7-1) and the Redhawks (5-0). The Titans get set to take on JBWA on Wednesday and New Milford on Friday.

Also on the move is Lyman Hall/H-K/Coginchaug, up to #2 after beating Staples (4-1) and Westhill-Stamford (6-4). New Milford (Wednesday) and Milford (Saturday) are this week’s opponents for the Trojans.

#3 Daniel Hand (5-1-1) stays put, earning a win over Masuk (6-2) and a tie with BBD (6-6). Two road games are on the docket this week: the Eastern CT Eagles (Wednesday) and North Branford (Saturday).

#4 Newington Co-op improved to 5-1-0 after beating Tri-Town (5-1) and the Shamrocks (1-0). The Indians face Hall-Southington (Wednesday) and E.O. Smith (Saturday) this week.

#5 Wilton (4-0-1) is still unbeaten on the young season. They hope to keep it going Saturday against Staples.

Making its debut in the poll this week is JBWA at #6. The Falcons are 4-2-0 and have won four straight, coming off an 8-1 decision of #10 Trinity Catholic. The game Wednesday against top-ranked Sheehan will be a key test.
