Connecticut D3 Top 10: Lyman Hall/H-K/Coginchaug takes over the top spot

Lyman Hall/H-K/Coginchaug (9-3-1) emerged victorious from the first showdown of the season in Connecticut Division 3 hockey, taking down Staples, 4-1. As a result, the Trojans slide into the top position in this week’s HNIB News Connecticut D3 Top 10.

The Trojans take on Daniel Hand on Wednesday and have a key tilt with D2 #3 North Branford on Saturday. Both games are at the Northford Ice Pavilion.

Despite the loss, Staples (9-2-1) drops only to #2. The Wreckers followed that with a 5-3 win over Trinity Catholic. They take on D1 foes Fairfield on Wednesday and New Canaan on Saturday.

#3 Sheehan (9-2-0) posted wins over Newington Co-op (5-3) and Housatonic (4-3). A key game looms Tuesday with the #5 Eastern CT Eagles. On Saturday, it will be Shepaug.

#4 Tri-Town (7-3-0) is making its move, ripping off wins this past week over Woodstock Academy (6-5), the Eastern CT Eagles (6-5) and Norwalk-McMahon (8-2). A non-league game is on tap Wednesday with Massachusetts foe Easthampton. T-T will also see SGWL (Friday) and the Redhawks (Saturday).

In addition to Sheehan, the Eastern CT Eagles play Housatonic/NW on Friday.

Up a spot to #6 is Enfield/EG/Stafford, which blanked Newington (4-0) in its only game. Looking ahead, South Hadley (MA) is on for Monday, then WMRP (Wednesday) and BBD (Saturday).

#7 WMRP (6-4-1) had a tie with Hall-Southington and a win over Barlow (5-2). #8 Newington Co-op provides the opposition on Saturday. Newington also plays E.O Smith/Tolland on Wednesday.

#9 BBD (5-5-1) and #10 Daniel Hand (3-7-0) trade spots this week.
