#1 Daniel Hand (11-2-1) split its two games this past week against the D2 iron, beating Watertown-Pomperaug (2-1) but falling to top-ranked Guilford (8-6). JBWA (Wednesday) and Masuk (Saturday) are on this week’s docket for the Tigers.

Lyman Hall/H-K/Coginchaug (12-4-0) remains #2 after posting victories over Newtown (8-1) and Amity (4-3) before bowing to Division 2 power Watertown-Pomperaug (2-1). The Trojans will get D2’s #3 team, Branford, on Wednesday.

Sheehan, ranked #3, had a productive week with wins over North Branford (4-2), BBD (4-3) and North Haven (4-3). The Titans (12-4-1) face Lyman Hall/H-K/Coginchaug  Saturday in a key D3 battle.

#4 Newington Co-op (12-4-0) picked up a pair of victories over Enfield-E. Granby-Stafford (5-3) and Shepaug (3-1). On tap this week are games with D2 opponents Eastern CT Eagles (Wednesday) and E.O. Smith (Saturday).

#5 Wilton (8-5-1) began the week with a win over Shepaug-Litch-Thom-Nonn (4-2) but fell to Trumbull (7-1) and New Canaan (8-2).

In 1972, two lifetime high school hockey fans started a weekly broadcast of Greater Boston high school games on WBOS-FM (92.9). The duo - Lance LoFaro and Darby Yaeger - called the nightly broadcasts "Hockey Night in Boston".
