Not content with taking down the best in its division or just departed, the top team in the HNIB News Connecticut D3 Top 10 spent the week beating one of its closest rivals in the rankings, knocking off a former D3 team that’s near the top of the D2 rankings, and beating another D2 school.

No. 1 Woodstock Academy keeps rolling. After some early-season close ones, the Centaurs have outscored opponents 44-12 in the past six games, including a 6-5 win over NFI and a 6-3 win over E.O. Smith/Tolland.

No. 2 WMRP also gets E.O. Smith this week and defeated No. 7 Hall/Southington, 6-5. It’s also got BCR on Friday.

We’ll keep No. 3 Housatonic/Northwestern in place, with apologies to No. 6 Sheehan, which debuts in the ranking this week after wins over Housatonic and crosstown rival No. 8 Lyman Hall/HK/Coginchaug ran its streak to four games. Housatonic did come back with a win over LHHKC.

No. 4 Newtown has a three-game winning streak after beating No. 9 BBD and Horace Greeley of New York. No. 5 Masuk shut out Shepaug but fell to D2 Watertown/Pomperaug; it has a busily interesting week, facing BBD on Monday, North Haven on Wednesday and Lyman Hall on Saturday.

No. 10 Norwalk endured one of the tough parts of its league schedule over the past couple of weeks, falling 8-1 to Darien this week. It has three in a row against D3 opponents, though, beginning Monday with Wilton and Wednesday with Sheehan, both at home.
