After a fairly static order around the holidays, a few results this week shook up our thinking, made us wonder how to weigh some early seeming upsets against some later results.

Once again, though, the top of the HNIB News Connecticut Division 3 Top 10 was easy. No. 1 Woodstock Academy no longer won close this week: It won big, running away from both Staples/Weston/Shelton and Tri-Town in victories by a combined 15-3.

A few teams took jumps off big wins. No. 3 WMRP got a late goal to beat No. 4 Lyman Hall/HK/Coginchaug. The NFA Redhawks, 3-0 in D3, move up to No. 7. They both face BCR, which has lost three in a row, in the week to come.

No. 8 Housatonic/Northwestern bested No. 9 BBD to move up as well. The Mountaineers have games the next three days against Tri-Town and No. 2 Newtown, which has won four in a row since opening the season with an overtime loss to Wilton.

Evaluating Trinity Catholic and Wilton is probably our biggest issue right now. Both have some good wins this year but have streaked the other way, with the Crusaders dropping a 4-3 game this week to No. 10 Norwalk.

No. 5 Masuk and No. 6 Hall/Southington won their only games this week.
