It’s back to where we started. We had Guilford in the #1 spot in our preseason Connecticut D2 rankings and after last week’s 5-3 conquest of Watertown-Pomperaug, Guilford returns to that perch in this week’s HNIB News rankings.

The Indians (11-2-0) followed up that decision with a win over Amity (5-2). They have won nine straight and are averaging over six goals a game. A Saturday date with New Fairfield/Immaculate looms Saturday.

#2 Watertown-Pomperaug (9-2-2) responded with a win over Westhill-Stamford. These Indians have an interesting matchup Wednesday, taking on D3’s #2 team in Daniel Hand. North Haven is on the docket for Saturday.

A 4-0 win over #9 WMRP Monday keeps Branford (8-2-3) solidly in the #3 spot. The Hornets take on Conard Wednesday.

A 7-1 victory over Glastonbury helped propel defending D2 champ Farmington Valley (6-3-2) up to #4. The Generals have a big week, with a home-and-home series with #5 South Windsor (8-5-0) coming up Wednesday and Saturday.

South Windsor had a big 5-2 win over WMRP last week, then battled unbeaten D1 opponent Northwest Catholic hard in a 7-5 loss.

#6 Glastonbury (4-3-2) looks to get back on track taking on Simsbury Wednesday and East Catholic Saturday.

E.O. Smith (9-4-0) is up to #7, its only decision a 3-1 conquest of New Milford. The Panthers look ahead to Conard on Saturday.

#8 Cheshire (7-3-1) tied D1 NFI (1-1) and then beat North Haven (1-0). Newington (Wednesday) and WMRP (Friday) provide the opposition this week.

WMRP looks to bounce back from Monday’s loss against Cheshire. New #10 Eastern CT Eagles (8-4-1) readies to take on North Haven (Wednesday) and Housatonic (Friday).
