A couple of new teams now call Division 2 home, expanding the total number of teams to 20. It should be a competitive lot.
Guilford (22-4-0) gets the nod in the HNIB News Connecticut D2 Preseason Top 10. The Indians, who reached the championship game last winter, have what might be the top offensive duo in the division in senior John Delucia and junior Jack Dacey.
#2 Watertown/Pomperaug (19-5-1) fell to Guilford in the semifinal round last year. These Indians have some firepower back, as well as standout goaltender Ryan Fleming, and should be around all season.
#3 Conard (11-8-1) is primed to make a big jump this winter. Last year’s champion – Farmington Valley (21-2-1) – suffered some heavy losses but should still have enough to be in the mix.
Rounding out the preseason Top 5 is Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks (8-11-1), which has moved down from the Division 1 ranks under new head coach, and former SGWL player, Jake King.
