Connecticut Division 2 Poll
The battle of the top two teams in the HNIB News Connecticut Division II rankings went to No. 1 North Haven, a 2-1 winner over No. 2 Cheshire, flipping the top two spots from last week. J.J. Jensen scored the game-winner short-handed, keeping North Haven perfect in the first quarter of its season against Division II foes.
No. 3 Conard won two games, beating the Newington co-op and East Catholic, while No. 4 South Windsor’s winning streak ended at three, that loss to Division I Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks. Conard visits South Windsor on Saturday. No. 5 North Branford stayed unbeaten since a loss to South Windsor with a couple of wins; it’ll host Cheshire on Wednesday.
No. 6 Hand holds on for now despite a 3-1 loss to Fairfield, coming back with a win over Masuk. It’ll face East Haven on Wednesday. No. 7 Guilford, which the Tigers beat a week ago, tied a tough Westhill/Stamford team before beating Branford.
No. 8 New Milford has come on strong, winning three in a row this week over East Haven, Newtown and Trumbull. The Green Wave have a good test Tuesday at Conard.
No. 9 Farmington/Avon/Windsor/Lewis Mills remained perfect with easy wins over Rockville/Bolton/Coventry and the NFA co-op this week. It’ll face the Newington co-op and Watertown/Pomperaug this week.
In a division that’s always fairly even, we’ll sneak No. 10 Fairfield back in over a host of other candidates. The Mustangs beat Hand and Amity this week.
