A couple of the top teams in Hockey Night in Boston’s Connecticut Division II top 10 lost in their conference tournaments while playing up in class, No. 1 Fairfield to New Canaan, No. 3 Conard to Simsbury. But No. 2 Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks and No. 4 Branford both earned league titles this week.

Suffield beat Housatonic/Northwestern/Wamogo 6-1 to win the Nutmeg Hockey Conference; Austin Rupp scored three goals. And Branford rode A.J. Brink’s 21 saves to a 5-0 win over No. 6 New Milford in the SCC/SWC Division II final.

Suffield also dealt Conard its first Division II loss this week, scoring six in the third period to win 7-1. Brendan Looney had a hat trick.

No. 9 Fermi/Enfield/East Granby/Stafford won the CCC South title, defeating E.O. Smith/Tolland for the second time in a month, 4-1. The Falcons closed the season with 12 wins in their last 14 games – including one against No. 10 Newington/Berlin/Manchester in the league semifinal, 4-2 – and they dealt E.O. Smith two of their three losses.
