No. 1 Fairfield’s toughest loss was a season-opener to No. 4 Branford. It got its revenge this week, beating the Hornets in overtime to take over the top spot in the HNIB News Connecticut Division Two rankings.

The Mustangs also played D1 Greenwich tough in a 2-1 loss and shut out No. 9 Milford.

No. 2 Conard and No. 3 Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks kept on rolling, the latter by winning seven in a row (including a 3-0 win over No. 7 Cheshire) and the former with a shut out of No. 10 Newington/Berlin/Manchester 3-0.

While the weather continues to wreak havoc on schedules, some teams managed to sneak in three games, like No. 6 North Haven, which went 2-0-1, by tying Masuk and beating Watertown/Pomperaug and Guilford. No. 8 New Milford was among those that just got one game in, beating Milford 3-2.

Newington/Berlin/Manchester’s seven-game winning streak ended with that Conard loss, but it came back with a handy win over Hall/Southington.
