Connecticut D2 Poll: East Haven rolling along

Connecticut Division 2 Poll

1East Haven1500
4North Branford4220
5New Fairfield/Immaculate5500
9South Windsor9330

Including a few postponed games, not much happened this week to suggest shaking up the HNIB News Connecticut Division 2 top 10.

That was particularly true at the top, where No. 1 East Haven beat No. 2 Cheshire behind three points from Nick Capone. The Yellowjackets also bested D1 Glastonbury, and Cheshire rebounded with a win over No. 10 Watertown/Pomperaug.

Cheshire has a week to come that’ll test it, though. The Rams visit No. 6 Conard on Tuesday, where the Chieftains are coming off a come-from-behind win over E.O. Smith/Tolland. They host No. 4 North Branford, off a loss to Fairfield in the rematch of last year’s D2 final, on Thursday, then visit No. 5 New Fairfield/Immaculate, which beat New Milford this week, on Saturday.

No. 3 Guilford lost to Westfield, a perennially solid team in Western Massachusetts, before beating Hand. The Indians face Westhill/Stamford and East Haven in the week to come.

No. 7 Amity, back from a trip to Europe, beat Wilton handily, while neither No. 8 Trumbull or No. 9 South Windsor played this week, in the Bobcats’ case because of weather.
