Two Division One teams weren’t a problem for the top team in the HNIB News Connecticut Division Two top 10. No. 1 East Haven shook off its first loss with three straight wins, two over solid D1 teams. The Yellowjackets bested West Haven 7-4 with five goals from the Aloi brothers; they were instrumental in a 5-4 win over Simsbury, too. East Haven also beat Amity and visits D1 Hamden on Wednesday in the week to come.

No. 2 Guilford ran its winning streak to six, and its only in-state loss is still East Haven after a come-from-behind 3-1 win over No. 3 New Fairfield/Immaculate. NFI was coming off a 1-1 draw against D3 power Woodstock Academy.

No. 4 Conard, in the midst of playing five of six against Division I foes, got the win it needed in the other game, surviving No. 8 South Windsor 2-1 in overtime. The Chieftains get Simsbury and Northwest Catholic for a second time this season in the week to come. South Windsor, which has lost six in a tough stretch of its own, faces E.O. Smith/Tolland on Tuesday.

No. 5 Watertown/Pomperaug has won five in a row against teams not named East Haven; it’ll visit Guilford and host Branford and North Haven this week in a tough conference week. No. 6 Farmington Valley, the only team to beat East Haven, got wins over South Windsor and Newington in the past week and visits a solid D3 WMRP team on Wednesday.

No. 7 Westhill/Stamford beat Scarsdale (N.Y.) before tying Staples. No. 9 Cheshire and No. 10 North Branford have both gotten back on track after some ups and downs, winners of three in a row each. Cheshire visits Farmington on Saturday, and North Branford will be at East Haven that day
