With a solid 6-1 win Saturday over Hamden, Ridgefield (6-0-0) remains as the #1 club in this latest installment of the HNIB News Connecticut D1 Top 10.

The Tigers, who have outscored their opponents by a 33-9 margin this year, take on D3 Staples on Wednesday, then will have a home-and-home series with #3 Darien this weekend, playing Friday at Winter Garden (5:20pm) and then again on Saturday at Darien Ice Rink (5:00 pm).

#2 Northwest Catholic is also 6-0-0 to start the season, a 3-2 overtime win over New Canaan its most latest result. This week, it will be home games against Glastonbury (Wednesday) and #6 Notre Dame of West Haven (Saturday).

Darien had solid wins over Notre Dame West Haven (6-4) and Xavier (4-3). They get a whole week to prepare for Ridgefield.

Before falling to Ridgefield, #4 Hamden (5-4-0) blasted Greenwich 8-3 on the road. The Dragons host Rhode Island’s Mt. St. Charles on Wednesday, then take on Simsbury Friday.

#5 Greenwich (2-1-1) drops three spots after the loss to Hamden. The Cardinals can atone for that loss in a three-game week that features Fairfield HS (Wednesday), Westhill-Stamford (Thursday) and Rhode Island’s Bishop Hendricken (Saturday).

NDWH (4-3-0) responded after the loss to Darien with a big 3-2 OT win over Fairfield Prep. Unbeaten Amity comes to Bennett Rink Wednesday before Saturday’s key tilt with Northwest Catholic.

#7 New Canaan (3-4-0) will face off with St. Joseph (Monday) and Trumbull (Saturday). The Rams had a win over #8 New Fairfield/Immaculate (3-2-3). Speaking of NFI, the Mustangs were tied by D2 Branford. They are off until a Saturday encounter with Simsbury.

Fairfield Prep (2-5-0) hangs on at #9. The Jesuits have the week off, not returning until a January 16th date with West Haven (4-3-0), which enters this week’s rankings at #10. West Haven takes on Cheshire on Wednesday and the East Haven Co-op Saturday.
