Top-ranked Ridgefield (9-0-0) continues to head the Connecticut Division 1 field in this week’s HNIB News Connecticut Division 1 Top 10, although the Tigers were challenged. In a home-and-home series with #3 Darien, Ridgefield emerged victorious in both games,  needed an overtime tally to win the first game (3-2), and then taking the second contest b a 2-0 score.

The Tigers are at #4 New Canaan Tuesday and take on Trinity Catholic on Saturday.

#2 Northwest Catholic (7-0-1) remains unbeaten, but the Mustangs were tied up by Glastonbury (3-3). They responded with a 3-1 takedown of Notre Dame of West Haven. Another big game looms Wednesday with Greenwich. Saturday’s opponent is D2 Farmington Valley.

Tough to move Darien (4-4-0) out of the third spot with its solid showing against Ridgefield. The Blue Wave tackle St. Joseph (Wednesday) and a rematch with Fairfield Prep (Saturday).

From here on, things got shuffled. And will probably continue to be shuffled, as not much separates the rest of the pack.

New Canaan (5-4-0) jumps up to #4 after wins over St. Joseph (4-0) and Trumbull (4-3), and New Fairfield/Immaculate (4-2-3) is up to #5 with a solid 5-1 win over Simsbury, which knocked off #6 Hamden (6-5-0) on Friday.

A rough stretch that includes losses to Westhill-Stamford (8-5) and Rhode Island’s Bishop Hendricken (5-0) knocks Greenwich (2-3-2) down to #7 this week. The Cardinals look to get back on track against Northwest Catholic (Wednesday), Wilton (Thursday) and Xavier (Saturday).

#8 Fairfield Prep (2-5-0) was idle and returns to action Wednesday against #9 West Haven (6-3-0), which beat Cheshire (2-1) and East Haven (7-3). A pair of losses to Amity (2-1) and Northwest Catholic (3-1) drops Notre Dame of West Haven (4-5-0) to #10.
