Connecticut D1 Poll: Ridgefield, New Canaan stay hot

This season seems to have the potential to be the most wide-open in memory in Connecticut’s Division I.

Our Hockey Night in Boston Top 10 keeps the same top three, not that No. 1 Xavier’s 8-0 loss to Rhode Island’s LaSalle Academy doesn’t make us question that a little. The Falcons have to get through No. 10 Darien and No. 7 Notre Dame-West Haven, fresh off wins over Darien and No. 8 Fairfield Prep, in the week to come.

No. 2 Ridgefield and No. 3 New Canaan both stayed hot with a shutout over St. Joseph, and No. 4 Hamden beat D2 North Haven before a postponement against Ridgefield left the Green Dragons with a two-week gap in their schedule.

No. 5 Northwest Catholic and No. 6 Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks remained undefeated with wins over East Catholic and Glastonbury, respectively. Northwest Catholic gets its biggest test yet on Saturday against New Canaan.

No. 9 Notre Dame-Fairfield, after a shutout loss to Fairfield Prep, faces Notre Dame-West Haven on Wednesday before its Lancer Beanpot tournament on the weekend in Milford.
