Connecticut D-2 Poll: Top-ranked East Catholic knocks off D-1 Glastonbury

Connecticut Division 2 Poll

2Trinity Catholic1131
4North Haven1133

*Updated 2/17/14

For the second time this year, East Catholic knocked off Division I Glastonbury, this time in overtime behind a stellar Tommy Usseglio night in goal. The Eagles stay on top of Hockey Night In Boston’s Connecticut boys Division II poll, a nod ahead of Trinity Catholic, which has won three in a row  (including a 3-1 win over Hand) after powering through the toughest part of its schedule.

Branford got back on track after its first loss in a while with easy wins over BBD and Watertown/Pomperaug. Amity, which dealt Branford that loss, took a one-goal defeat against West Haven.

And while North Haven started the week with a loss to Division I Northwest Catholic, it ended it with a 5-3 win over Cheshire, which had needed a huge third-period comeback to beat defending champ Fairfield — which in turn beat Staples/Weston/Shelton in overtime on the road in a tough conference match.

New Milford won its third in a row after a loss to Branford, shutting out Newtown 3-0. It faces Milford on Saturday; Milford also has Fairfield on Monday.
