East Catholic continues to put up impressive results against some Division I opposition, sweeping a three-game season series from Glastonbury, winning the CCC North tournament and continuing to lead Hockey Night In Boston’s Connecticut boys Division II poll.

But teams like Branford (SCC/SWC tournament champion), Trinity Catholic (competitive against top teams in the FCIAC) and Amity (SCC/SWC runners-up) continue to post good results. Amity beat North Haven in the conference semifinals; Branford beat Cheshire in the other semi. And BCR won the CCC South tournament against a game Hall/Southington team after knocking out E.O. Smith/Tolland/Windham in the semis.

But now comes the state tournament, in which East Catholic, last year’s runner-up in an overtime thriller, is the top seed. Everyone opens up Tuesday; Hand will face Newington/Berlin/Manchester, BCR draws New Milford, and Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks will meet Cheshire.
