Connecticut Division 2 Boys Poll
* Updated 1/20/14
New Milford’s big win over North Haven (and the Indians’ follow-up tie against Branford) shakes things up a bit, moving a few teams up this week and leaving us watching a couple of match-ups this week that could shake up some more.
Branford inherits the top spot after that draw, and if it’s to keep it, it’ll need to earn it in games against Hand and Cheshire this week. East Catholic (idle for a week) could easily lay claim to No. 1.
So could Trinity Catholic, which remains the state’s only unbeaten team after two easy wins over conference foes Wilton and Westhill; the Crusaders get their test in the next few weeks, though, with four Division I opponents in their next six games.
After its win over North Haven, New Milford needed overtime to beat Trumbull. It’s got, among others, Masuk and Newtown coming up. Cheshire, Amity and Milford all took care of conference games they needed to win; Fairfield had it tougher in-conference, facing two Division I teams and losing both.
Hand slips back to 10th here after a win over Brookfield/Bethel/Danbury. A few others would be worthy choices, too, including Suffield, which knocked off last week’s No. 10, North Branford, handily.
